Multi-Stakeholder Research Data Management Training as a Tool to Improve the Quality, Integrity, Reliability and Reproducibility of Research

To ensure the quality and integrity of data reliability research, must be well documented, organised, described. This calls for research management (RDM) education researchers. In light 3 ECTS Basics Research Data Management (BRDM) courses held between 2019 2021, we aim to find how a generic level multi-stakeholder training can improve STEM HSS disciplines’ doctoral students’ postdoc researchers’ competencies in RDM. The study uses quantitative, descriptive inferential statistics analyse respondents’ self-ratings their competencies, qualitative grounded theory-inspired approach code course participants’ feedback. Results: On average, based on post-course surveys, (n = 123) improved one point four-level scale, from “little competence” (2) “somewhat competent” (3). Participants also reported that would change current practices planning projects, documentation, acknowledging legal privacy viewpoints, collecting organising. indicated it helpful see principles regulations presented as concrete instructions, cases, examples. most requested continuing topics were metadata description, discipline specific cultures, backup, version management, storage. Conclusions: Regarding widely used criteria successful containing 1) active participation during training; 2) demand RDM 3) increased knowledge understanding confidence enacting practices; 4) positive post-training feedback, BRDM meets criteria. shows although reaching excellent competence basics is improbable, participants become aware its contents gain elementary tools basic skills begin applying sound research.
